Community & Clubs
Waltham Street, Sandringham, VIC, 3191

Sandy Street Art Project Inc (SSAP) is a not-for-profit collective of local volunteers dedicated to enriching Sandringham Village and foreshore through art, music and community activation.

Established in 2018 and incorporated in 2019, SSAP facilitates, curates and promotes public art projects, live music events, installations, festivals and community gardens. Their work ranges from large-scale murals and sculptural pieces to chalk art, pop-up pianos, street libraries, market events and seasonal community celebrations such as ANZAC installations, Chalkfest and the Sandy Festival.

SSAP has delivered projects with budgets up to $50,000 and has collaborated with a wide network of partners, including the Bunurong Land Council, Boon Wurrung Foundation, Bayside City Council, Community Bank Sandringham, local traders, schools and numerous community organisations. Their work includes culturally significant projects such as the Bundjil murals, community-driven initiatives like Peoples’ Patch community gardens, and vibrant street art that has become part of Sandringham’s identity.

With a social media reach of up to 9,000 accounts, SSAP actively promotes local artists and performers while creating accessible opportunities for community participation — from young creators to established street artists and musicians. They also host street art tours and support performers with practical resources and partnerships.

The organisation is fully insured and operates with strong governance, drawing on members’ professional backgrounds in art, engineering, design, project management, government, law, accounting and event management.

At its core, SSAP exists to build community through creativity — activating public spaces, supporting local talent, acknowledging First Nations heritage, and bringing people together through shared cultural experiences.

SSAP is a not-for-profit group of local volunteers with a passion for the visual arts and doing things - facilitating, curating and promoting visual arts, music and community gardens.

Active since 2018 and incorporated in 2019, our interests include music, community gardens, art installations, and the general amenity of Sandringham Village and foreshore.

Members are experienced in fields including  Art, Asset Management and Accounting, Engineering, Design, Local and State Government, Law, Project Management, Small Business and Writing, along with Event and related Financial Management.
